The Experience

Not only a concert. A journey into another time.

Pressburg Soirée is an immersive cultural evening in which music, architecture, movement and handcrafted historical costumes come together. Inspired by the multicultural spirit of late‑Habsburg Bratislava, the performance invites its audience to experience the city not as a museum piece, but as a living world of melody, elegance and human stories.

The Music

Melodies from the golden age of Pressburg.

The evening brings together Slovak, Hungarian and Austrian songs, operetta melodies and instrumental works from the same cultural world that inspired the costumes. Vocal numbers are interwoven with elegant instrumental miniatures and chamber pieces, allowing the violin, flute, clarinet and piano to tell their own stories. Rather than presenting a rigid list of works, the programme unfolds as a colourful musical portrait of a city where several languages, traditions and musical voices once met naturally.

The Costumes

Handcrafted exclusively for Pressburg Soirée.

The historical costumes are not decoration. They are an essential part of the narrative, created specifically for the performers and the character of each musical moment. Their silhouettes, fabrics, jewellery and details draw inspiration from the late Habsburg period and help transform the concert into a complete visual and emotional experience.

The Artists

The voices and instruments of the evening.

The Creators

A shared vision of music and history.

Pressburg Soirée is the result of a shared vision by Michal and Alžbeta Švehlíkovi — a belief that classical music can be experienced not only through sound, but through atmosphere, place and visual imagination. Michal, a baritone and the project’s artistic initiator, shapes the dramaturgy, musical direction and overall concept of the evening. Alongside his professional career in Vienna, he brings together outstanding performers and creates a format designed to welcome both experienced concertgoers and audiences discovering classical music for the first time. Alžbeta is responsible for the entire visual language of the project. Drawing on her studies at University College London, her professional training in costume design and her experience at the Slovak National Theatre, she creates every costume, piece of jewellery and historical detail specifically for Pressburg Soirée. Together, they have created an experience in which music, architecture and costume form a single story — an invitation to step into the elegant, multicultural world of historic Pressburg.

The Venue

A journey through the Primate’s Palace.

Before the first note is heard, the evening begins with the place itself. Enter one of Bratislava’s most remarkable historic buildings and follow its elegant interiors towards the Mirror Hall, where the concert takes place.

From the formal façade and ceremonial staircase to the intimacy of the historic salon and the glow of the Mirror Hall — the palace is not merely a backdrop. It is part of the soirée.
